Man Walking Along San Leandro BART Tracks Removed Unharmed

A man with psychiatric problems was safely removed from walking along BART tracks between the Bayfair and San Leandro stations this evening, a BART police lieutenant said.         

The man walking on the tracks was reported at 5:35 p.m. after he apparently walked off the end of the Bayfair platform, Lt. Steve Coontz said.         

Trains were turned around at Bayfair and San Leandro causing major delays in service.

Police found the man unharmed along the tracks and took him to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation, Coontz said.           

Normal train service is resuming with residual delays.
