Early Morning Quake Hits San Leandro Area

 A 2.7-magnitude earthquake struck an area near San Leandro early this morning, the U.S. Geological Survey is reporting.
           
The quake hit at 3:38 a.m. about 1 mile north of San Leandro and 4 miles west of Castro Valley.
          
The temblor had a depth of about 2.7 miles and could be felt as far away as Oakland and Alameda, according to the USGS.
