Alleged Bay Fair BART Shooters Charged With Murder

Jabrie Bennett and Andre Smith, both 18, face murder charges in connection with the Jan. 19 gunfight that caused the death of 50-year-old Kenneth Lee Seets of Fremont.

 

Two 18-year-old men who allegedly got into a gunfight outside the Bay Fair BART Station in January have been charged with murder in connection with the death of Kenneth Lee Seets, an innocent bystander who died of a wound suffered during the exchange, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The two 18-year-olds, Jabrie Bennett and Andre Smith, are being held without bail.

. The incident occurred on January 19.

Authorities allege that Smith and his younger brother reached a bus stop at the station around noon, at which time the brother started arguing with Bennett.

Smith was allegedly carrying a loaded gun in his waistband. Bennett is said to have had a .22-caliber semiautomatic rifle in a duffle bag.

Authorities believe that Bennett opened fire. Seets was struck in the chest with the bullet that killed him. A woman with Bennett, Antilea Beal, was struck in the head but survived.

Bennett and Smith have also been charged with assault with a firearm for allegedly wounding Beal.
