The San Leandro Unified School District is the main public school district serving the city of San Leandro. Its 12More schools -  eight elementary (K-5), two middle (6-8), one high school (9-12) and one alternative high school serve approximately 8,900 students. A new campus, the San Leandro High School Fred T. Korematsu campus, opened in 2010 to serve all 9th grade students. The district includes an alternative, continuation high school (Lincoln) and independent study center, and the San Leandro Adult School. The staff is made up of 500 teachers and 250 classified personnel. The superintendent is Cindy Cathey.

Thrasher Park is the oldest park in the city of San Leandro. It is located on the corner of Orchard Avenue and DavisMore Street, near the San Leandro BART. It has many recreation options, including a playground, baseball diamond, picnic and barbecue area and skateboard facilities. The baseball field has a scoreboard and lights for night play. The skatepark includes rails, ramps and a large bowl.
San Leandro Historical Railway Society

San Leandro Historical Railway Society is on the corner of Davis Street and Orchard Avenue in the same lot as OrchardMore Park. This historical railway was established in 1898 and has provided the city with a long history.
