What a little whiner this guy is!
"We are assigned 2.5 million people, the other is…Read More assigned 4.2 million people," Wolff said. "We have two counties assigned to us, there are six counties assigned to the other team."
Which is ONLY a limiting factor if you can't give fans a reason to travel to watch your game(s). You know - like winning.
Maybe if Lou spent more time focussing on building enterprise value ON THE FIELD instead of in the condo's he hopes to build AROUND THE FIELD - he'd get more traction.
Lou says he "deserves" a new stadium. Why exactly? Because he's done so well by the City of Oakland (broke) or A's fans (more broke) ? Exactly WHY does Lou feel so entitled???????

No mention of the recently declared ilegal real estate transactions San Jose provided the As? The As…Read More staying in the black has much more to do with league profit sharing than any contributions from Wolff. iMO, old stadiums are great, it makes the game affordable to the average fan and not designed for corporate ticket holders.

Nope, they're shutting down Mt. Davis and a couple sections in the top corner of the original…Read More structure. They will be tarping those off and reducing "capacity" to 53,000 in an effort to sell out games without the help of 2 for 1 deals, nor re-purchasing any leftovers to guarantee a sellout.
Agreed, with all the violence, TV is the way to go.

I assume these are for the top of mt Davis, most people these days have flat screen TVs with more…Read More viewable area...

Palomar,
Well said comment!
There should have been an early pass-interference call on the 49ers as…Read More well.
If the refs had been making calls in the early game, players would have had to play by the rules throughout. Instead they let there be numerous late whistles and late hits (where one guy had the runner stopped with a tackle and then other guys were allowed to hit him--very physically dangerous and with game-changing possibilities of injuries and fumbles) and also over aggressive shoving/fighting after the point (mostly started by the Ravens).
I thought the officiating was poor and changed the nature of the game.
Wasn't this almost the fewest penalty calls that these teams have EVER had? (I'd like to hear those statistics.) Did these teams change that much from their previous season play that they now weren't doing penalties? I doubt it.
Palomar Parkman February 5, 2013 at 12:39 pm
The game was very entertaining for fans of both teams. That is why you watch. The 49ers played like…Read More a young team. Flashes of brilliance and moments of stupidity. The non-calls by the refs changed the ebb and flow. Their performance was pathetic and that is supposed to be the 'best' ref crew the NFL has to offer. Bad calls and non-calls never even out. I expect to see the game played by the rules.
I am not sure what the ultimate outcome would have been if it was properly officiated but it most definitely would not have been the same game I watched. What a disgraceful display by the NFL on their biggest stage.

The analysis isn't showing "fans" at all, but rather who people would like to see win the…Read More Superbowl between the two teams that are playing in it. It's hard to root for a Baltimore team that features a murderer as a starting linebacker. No wonder more people want to see SF win. I am a New York Giants fan and I'd like to see SF win but it doesn't mean I'm a "fan".

I posted a screen capture of a similar craigslist ad for tickets. It clearly shows a warning in RED…Read More against wiring (sending) money.
So Tina, would you feed the bears when there's a sign that says "Do Not Feed The Bears"? Or, how about where a revealing outfit in a crowd of perverts when you don't want the attention?
Where I do totally agree with the problem didn't start with the buyer. It was definitely the seller (criminal) who is at fault here, but when it's clearly posted to not do something because of scammers ... and you do it anyway ... it's your fault.
Nick January 30, 2013 at 09:10 pm
Authorities have warned people, craigslist has a warning in red....RED, it probalby isn't the first…Read More time a craigslist buyer has been scammed. The police have warned people pay attention, if you must talk on the phone, find a safe spot and always look up. "Do not wire funds." In red, she goes ahead and wires funds? Come on. For that amount of cash, wouldn't you heed warnings? Geez, muggings, theft? Police have warned, talk on your phones in a safe area, look up when you talk, pay attention. Since you brought up crime, what about cell phones, there's a new law in place, do not talk on a cell phone while you are driving, what do people do, continue to talk on their phone while driving. You don't heed the warnings from authorities, you will have consequences, running over a cyclist, accidents. There are warnings to HELP you, prevent you from losses.
Tim January 30, 2013 at 06:23 pm
So in your mind Tina, there's no difference between VOLUNTARILY wiring money to someone versus…Read More someone getting mugged walking down the street, property taken against their will? Sorry, Ms. Osgood acted stupidly in voluntarily wiring money to a stranger against warnings from Craigslist explicitly saying NOT to do so. I hope the criminal is caught and prosecuted but I do not feel sorry for people who lack basic common sense and basic reading skills.

haha, a Blanda Burger. It's an open faced single unseasoned patty with no sides, to go only.
Ari Soglin (Editor) January 29, 2013 at 07:56 pm
Something tells me a Blanda Burger would be tough to market. But a Biletnikoff Burger sounds tasty.
Mark Murphy January 29, 2013 at 07:50 pm
I'm not from San Francisco or Baltimore and have no interest in either team. Let me know when they…Read More have a Blanda or Billetnikoff Burger.

Yea, as a New York Giants fan living in the Bay Area, I can tell you their fans sure do whine...…Read More just mention two words is all it takes to set them off.... "Kyle Williams"
That said, as a bigger baseball fan and lifelong New York Mets fan, I hate everything about Atlanta. I'd have to say, I'd rather SF win.

"Researchers said they hope to be able to predict risks of any given hit to the head. And not…Read More only in football but soccer, lacrosse and other sports . With the help of changes to the equipment or a change in the rules.
Other researchers say there’s an individual component. About one-in 20 children has a specific gene that may increase risk of brain damage. So before they head off to the field, children should have a genetic test, which was expected to be available later in January.
The test would give them and their families information about which sport to play and when to return to play after a head injury."

While the Junior Seau story is tragic and sad, it is not the norm for what happens in football. It…Read More certainly isnt happening to young kids playing as it is a cummulative type injury that occurs over time. Part of the answer is improving equipment but the real task is teaching youngsters how to play the game correctly with proper techniques. Injuries will always be a part of football and all sports. The issue needs to be adressed with youth coaching up through the NFL. Football is the ultimate team sports and has created success for many of young men, and not just those who made to NFL. It can be a vehicle out of a troubled neighborhood or help a kid get a college education that he never could have afforded without it. I hate hearing the Junior Seau story but lets use it to fix the problem not to say football is bad.

I think 36.2 per-cent of the Baseball Writers Association should be x-ed for PED use.

Baseball's HOF Election Rule 5:
5. Voting: Voting shall be based upon the player's record, playing…Read More ability, INTEGRITY, SPORTSMANSHIP or CHARACTER, and contributions to the team(s) on which the player played.
So does anyone care to discuss Bond's(or any other steroid users) INTEGRITY, SPORTSMANSHIP or CHARACTER?
Let's see, Bonds was convicted of obstruction of justice and a bunch of the other HOF nominees lied during hearings regarding PEDs.
The PEDs in question were illegal under both state and federal law
That sure smacks of people with INTEGRITY or CHARACTER.
What I’d like to know is how the voters who voted for any of the steroid players reconciled the INTEGRITY, SPORTSMANSHIP or CHARACTER issue.
