bigdog May 15, 2013 at 10:14 am
I'm happy they're trying to revitalize an area that sorely needs it but will I cross the border toRead More shop there? no.
Kareta Tweedy Williams May 16, 2013 at 06:09 pm
Foothill Square was in great need of a Revamp. I grew up in the neighborhood and I myself know thatRead More it is a great area to shop. It was hard to see them close the laundromat down because I was a frequent customer but to see something Great come to East Oakland is wonderful. Thank you for bringing some life back to Oakland!!!!!!!

David, I find it difficult to follow your line of logic. You have not read my comments thoroughly. IRead More have decided not to continue further discussion on the subject. Ken, I do not understand what "compound" you are referring to. Gate's Foundation is working in Africa and Asia. They are attempting to help with vaccinations and sanitation.
Ken Briggs May 16, 2013 at 07:01 pm
if the people that live by the windmill would only get some smarts and buy the land but not all theRead More home owners that live in that compond can se that lovely windmill at work . now all those people on the far north end does not even know whats on the other side .
Ken Briggs May 25, 2013 at 10:50 am
Being that this guy named Bennie Lee was not on the city payroll you would not hear anything . HisRead More butt must live just over the fence from the place . Now all those people on the far north end can not see the windmill, but some of them can see the fire house on the north end and see some of those craines that stick up in the air and see where that cookie place is . What is that camp ground going to do when Bennie Lee is voted out of office and no one that lives in that camp ground wants ton try to get the job ?
Ken Briggs April 26, 2013 at 09:03 pm

San leandro reflects the shifting of the nature and population of the "middle class".Read More After The War, with the rest of the world communist or bombed to zero, unskilled metal benders could charge premium prices and have unions demanding inflated wages. These unskilled workers cannot remain in the middle class anymore with added global competition. The choice or result in communities then is either they gentrify by shifting their focus to more skilled work, high tech or whatever you want to call it. This is supported by low barriers to starting a business and good schools, of which, san leandro barely has the former (and is hurt by being in California, the worst state to start or run a business). Without these, the unskilled population has slid further downscale, something san leandrans are doing and seeing. Not every city, and certainly not san leandro, can have google. With attractions for higher skilled businesses (LIT etc), perhaps SL can avoid continued ghettoizing. Better schools would help that effort tremendously. A better state environment would also help (not just us, but take a looks at the devastation the idiots in Sacramento have wreaked on the Central Valley.

Milwaukee, where I grew up went through a similar phase in the 90's. terrible schools, industriesRead More closing, population shrinking and too-high unionization rates. Since the establishment of vouchers, in the 90's, improving the schools, and improving the business climate, despite relatively high taxes and regulations there too, the population has grown a bit, jobs and wages have stabilized.

FOR SHOES , you got to go to a shoe store in Hayward called The Cobbers at 22443 Foothill blvd byRead More A street phone 510 582 7761 . I had to get some new shoes and being that I broke my heel and had to have pins put in my right foot, I found that the stores , shoe store at bayfair sucks , but this store in hayward will take time to help you in what you want and need .

We are delighted to hear they will be serving dinners soon. Downtown needs additional dinner spotsRead More that charge reasonable prices. We love Englander's but it gets too crowded to get into on weekends. Bring in more good places that are reasonably priced!

And by the way. It doesn't take a whole lot of money buy a F'N turbine. I just choose not to rob ourRead More tax payers of subsidies that are involved. But you are too stupid to even know about something like that PROPHEAD. Do some homework idiot... And guessing from your post you have no shame in purchasing said turbine. WHY? Because it's cool, and green, it matches my Prius and I am getting all these "rebates". YEP! REBATES you ass-hat. In other words, SUBSIDIES. Where did you think the rebate was coming from DICK!
anthony April 7, 2013 at 01:19 pm
Is there any other information that addresses the concerns of the EBRPD? You've presented thisRead More action as strictly limited to this property and the one windmill being approved, can you please expand upon what the unintentional impacts EBRPD is referring to in their letter.
