Friends of San Leandro Creek have asked Patch to help round up some extra hands and feet for a clean-up day this Saturday.
Volunteers will assemble at at 9:30 a.m.
Bearing in mind the old adage that no good deed goes unpunished, volunteers will have to sign a waiver before they do their part. Click here for required form.
City Councilman Michael Gregory, who is also president of Friends of the Creek, says the East Bay has only three waterways that are relatively open from their headwaters to San Francisco Bay. They are:
- Alameda Creek in Fremont
- Wildcat Creek in Berkeley and Richmond
- San Leandro Creek
Gregory said the volunteer group would ultimately like to see year-round flow restored to San Leandro Creek.
The Ecology Center is a clearinghouse for creek restoration efforts around the Bay.
But don't forget Saturday.
