Help Send Rice To A Village In Afghanistan

A nonprofit group that sends aid to villages in Afghanistan will use a San Leandro warehouse this Sunday to bag rice and to collect other donations from the public.

Trust in Education, a Lafayette based non-profit, which provides educational, economic and health assistance to villages in Afghanistan, will hold a packing party in San Leandro Sunday, June 10, and welcomes volunteers to assist it.

On Sunday it will be packing tens of thousands of rice meals to be sent to Afghanistan. The packing will begin promptly at 10 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.

According to the group's website it is a " grass-roots organization that informs and enlists Americans to become directly involved in the reconstruction of Afghanistan. We serve as a tie between Afghan villages and American communities, and win hearts and minds in both."

The non-profit, Stop Hunger Now, has made it possible for the Sunday packing event to take place at a warehouse in San Leandro located at 1567 Alvarado Street.
