Alameda County Board of Supervisors appoints San Leandro resident to Alameda Health System Board of Trustees
Kinkini Banerjee nominated by County Supervisor Wilma Chan
Kinkini Banerjee, a community health expert, was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Alameda Health System (formerly known as the Alameda County Medical Center) by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors at its October 15th meeting.
Under the leadership of Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan, Sutter Health will donate San Leandro Hospital to the Alameda Health System. To ensure local representation, Supervisor Chan – who represents the City of San Leandro – nominated Ms. Banerjee, a San Leandro resident, to fill an open position on the Alameda Health System Board of Trustees.
Ms. Banerjee works for the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee (USBC) where she leads the Surgeon General’s campaign to support breastfeeding and builds coalitions to end health disparities. She also directs a consulting firm that helps organizations create healthy, sustainable communities.

Prior to her work with USBC, Ms. Banerjee created an innovative health education campaign with the Sesame Street Workshop to improve access to healthier foods for low-income families. She also spearheaded a statewide initiative for health promotion and chronic disease prevention and advocated for women’s health and equity issues in Washington, D.C.
During her distinguished career, Ms. Banerjee has led programs to alleviate health disparities in underserved communities in India, Ecuador, New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area.
