San Leandro Goes to the Dogs Today

Charity dog walk and pet resource fair at the Marina. Plus an adoption event at PetSmart.

 

The Four Paws Society is inviting the public to join Grand Marshall and San Leandro Mayor Stephen Cassidy and his dog Button today at the Paw-a-Thon and Pet Resource Fair at the San Leandro Marina.

Included will be a charity walk, exhibits, demonstrations, a petting zoo and much more from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Here is the event schedule:

9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. - Registration

9:30 a.m. - Opening Ceremony

9:45 a.m. - One mile charity walk begins (Proceeds benefit dog park and spay neuter programs.)

10:15 a.m. - Dog training demonstration

10:45 a.m. - Police K9 Unit demonstration

12 p.m. - Pet CPR demonstration

Registration is $20 per adult. Children under 12 can participate in the walk free.  Participants are encouraged to help raise money by collecting pledges. You can qualify to win prizes (such as gift certificates and gift baskets)  depending on the amount of money you raise as an individual or a team.

Pet adoption event

Separately, Northern California Pet Adoptions will hold pet adoption events in San Leandro on Saturdays at , 15555 E. 14th Street (near Bayfair Center).

There will be one today (June 30), as well July 7 and July 14.

Animals available for adoption will be on hand between 12 and 5 p.m. at the store.
