County Fair Celebrates 100 Years Of Farming

This centennial celebration will feature activities about the fair's history, rides, giveaways and more. Come out and help commemorate a local tradition.

 

Come June 20th the Alameda County Fair will celebrate is 100th anniversary.

Far from being a throwback to days gone by, the Fair helps focus our attention on the growing move toward urban farming.

New this year will be Festival Square, an outdoor cafe with chairs, dancing and the culture of the Alameda County Fair. Nearby restaurants will be featuring their foods while local artists will be showcasing their work.

Be a part of history and purchase a brick that will be displayed at the Alameda County Historical Monument or peruse the memoribilia available symbolizing the fair's most tributed moments.

Opening weekend will include a hat contest -- come with your most unique hat creation and win some cash or ride tickets for the youth contest. The fair will also have a BBQ cook-off, mystery cookie contest and gumbo contest to name a few.

So get out your sunblock ready and come out with your family to help celebrate a force in local history -- and a catalyst for the future.
