San Leandro is 6-4 this season, a record that made some question it's number three seed. The ranking gave the Pirates a bye week in the first round of the playoffs last week.

San Leandro did win five games in a row before losing its final regular season game to league champion Bishop O'Dowd, 48-26.

The Pirates are led by quarterback Jose Ferreira and wide receiver Jermaine Berry.

Monte Vista has a 7-4 record. They've won four in a row, including a 34-33 victory over San Ramon Valley High to end the regular season and a 42-36 first round win last week over Heritage High of Brentwood.

Monte Vista is led by Oregon-bound quarterback Jeff Lockie, who was named the East Bay Athletic League most valuable player.

Both teams defeated Castro Valley High this season.
