Learn-to-Row Classes for 5th-9th Grade

Oakland Youth Rowing offers a new session of 2 and 3-day Middle School & Freshman Intro to Rowing classes beginning 1/11/12.

All programs emphasize learning, physical conditioning, teamwork, and of course fun! Participants learn the basics of sculling (rowing with two oars) in a safe, flat-water environment. This is an excellent opportunity to try out the sport and learn the tools and techniques they'll need to continue as rowers!

For 7th-9th graders, we offer a 3 week, 3 day/week Introduction to Rowing program, which will prepare them to join the Middle School or High School Team.   Classes run 4PM-6PM on Wednesdays & Fridays; 8AM-10AM on Saturdays.

Our 5th & 6th Grade Recreational Rowing is designed to introduce the sport of rowing to middle school students in the 5th and 6th grades.  Classes 2 times a week- culminating with fun “championship regattas”  between recreational middle school rowers.
