Young Musicians Perform Jazz in San Leandro Wednesday Night

A Taste of Jazz featuring local youth musicians will be held March 14 at the San Leandro High School Arts Education Center

 

"A Taste of Jazz" will be presented Wednesday, March 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. by San Leandro Middle and High School students along with the Chabot College Jazz Orchestra.

The performance will take place at the San Leandro High School Arts Center located at 2200 Bancroft Avenue, San Leandro.

Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

Performing will be and jazz musicians all under the direction of David Leese and performers led by their director Andrew Storar.

Special guests at the event will be the Chabot College Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Jon Palacio.

According to the college's website, the Chabot College Jazz Orchestra is "A multi-award-winning group that has been the flagship of the music department since 1968.  This ensemble is the home of outstanding professional musicians and music educators in the community.  This ensemble has traveled to Japan to represent Hayward at its sister city Funabashi as well as accompanied jazz greats such as Mel Torme, Doc Severinsen, Rosemary Clooney, Ernie Watts, Lew Soloff, Bobby Shew, Ledisi and many more.
