SLHS Teachers Upset Over Rap Song Played During Lunchtime

San Leandro High School teachers bring up censorship and culture after hearing a rap song played over the loudspeaker during lunch on Tuesday.

A rap song played over the loudspeaker at San Leandro High School on Tuesday stirred up some controversy among school staff, according to an inside source.

The source who asked not to be named, said a teacher had complained about vulgar and misogynistic music playing over the loudspeakers during lunch. The source said around 20 teachers responded with their opinions about censorship and culture.

San Leandro Patch put in calls and emails on Wednesday to both the school's principal and the district's superintendent to find out more details on this. We have not yet heard back from them.

What are your thoughts? Should there be stricter song censorship at the school during lunchtime? Do you think the teachers overreacted? Tell us in the comments section below.
