School Board to Discuss Test Scores and Budget at Tuesday's Meeting

The school board was scheduled to meet at district offices on Juniper Street for open session items at 7 p.m.

At its meeting Tuesday night, the Board of Education was scheduled to hear presentations on student test score data and issues affecting the district's budget, among other items.

Daniel Chaja, assistant director of assessment and program evaluation, will present student assessment information related to 's  pass rates for Advanced Placement (AP), Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) and the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE).

He will also provide an update of the district's progress on two tests designed for students with disabilities: the STAR California Alternate Performance Assessment (CAPA) and California Modified Assessment (CMA).

Song Chin-Bendib, assistant superintendent for business and operations, will update board members on the state's budget process and its impact on the district. 

Chin-Bendib will also discuss the issuance and sale of the first series of bonds under Measure M, for $50.1 million principal. Bids will be taken May 10.

Board members will also consider approving the facility license agreement and event request form for the high school's Arts Education Center.

Among the consent items: establishing a student assistance program through the end of the school year to help 25 San Leandro High seniors at risk of not graduating in June; and approving a short contract to bring in outside assistance for one month to help the district catch up on data projects.
