San Leandro Class Sizes Not Expected to Increase

School board officials had earlier voted to increase K-3 class sizes from 28 to 32 students in 2014 to save $420,000 annually, according to The Daily Review.

San Leandro class sizes will not increase this fall in kindergarten through third-grade classrooms as planned, The Daily Review reports.

School board officials had earlier voted to increase K-3 class sizes from 28 to 32 students in 2014 to save $420,000 annually, according to The Daily Review.

However, trustees changed their minds last week during a board meeting after receiving a report on the May revision of the governor's proposed budget, The Daily Review reports.

In addition, the trustees also decided not to eliminate the vice principal position from an elementary or middle school, along with a custodian and two campus supervisors, according to The Daily Review.

The decision restored $670,000 out of $1.32 million in budget cuts planned for the 2013-14 school year, The Daily Review reports.
