PG&E Gas In Marin NOT Cause Of Local Scare

Authorities have revised their assessment of what caused the gas odor that caused an evacuation at two San Leandro schools.

 

Officials at John Muir Middle School and Woodrow Wilson Elementary School evacuated students for about an hour Thursday due to the smell of gas.

Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said about 1 pm -- erroneously as it turns out -- that the odors were tracked back to a PG&E gas line check in Marin County that caused some gas to be vented into the atmosphere.
