Measure L Parcel Tax Exemption Applications Now Available

Exemption forms are available through June 28 for property owners 65 and older.

The San Leandro Unified School District would like to inform property owners that the Measure L parcel tax exemption applications are available through June 28, 2013.

Property owners who are 65 years of age or older and reside in the District may apply for the exemption. Applications are available online at http://www.sanleandro.k12.ca.us/ or at the District office located on 14735 Juniper Street, San Leandro, CA. Property owners that may have questions about the application may contact the Parcel Tax Administrator at (800) 273-5167.

Measure L states that, “An exemption from payment of the special tax may be granted on any parcel owned by one or more persons 65 years of age or over who occupies said parcel as a principal residence, or on any parcel owned by one or more persons receiving Supplemental Security Income (‘SSI’) for a disability, regardless of age, who occupies said parcel as a principal residence.”

If approved, the full amount of the parcel tax will be not be levied through fiscal year 2013-14. Each subsequent year, by an internal process, previously approved applications will be re-evaluated. Provided that you continue to own and occupy the property as your principal place of residence, you will continue to receive the exemption.
