Fundraiser Today For Measure L Parcel Tax

More than 175 people have already signed up for an event at the Veterans Memorial Building to support the $39-per-parcel tax for San Leandro public schools.

 

More than 175 teachers and other public school advocates have already signed up to attend a fundraiser for Measure L that will be held from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm today at the Veteran's Memorial Building at 1105 Bancroft Avenue in San Leandro.

Measure L would remain in effect five years. Here are the costs:

  • Single Family Residential $39 per parcel
  • Multi-Family Residential With 2-4 Units $39 per parcel
  • Multi-Family Residential With 5 or More Units $19 per unit
  • Commercial/Industrial $0.02 per square foot of lot size
  • Vacant/Unimproved Parcels $39 per parcel
  • Seniors and disabled residents who receive federal Supplemental Security Income would be able to get exemptions.

    Attendees at the fundraiser will include three new members of the San Leandro school board -- Corina Lopez, Vince Rosato, Jason Toro -- and incumbent Diana Prola. All take office automatically because they were unchallenged.
