Civil War: 150th Anniversary Event

San Leandro was far from the bloody battllefields of the American Civil War, but still San Leandro and California contributed blood, sweat, tears, and gold to the cause. In honor of the 150th anniversary of the terrible conflict, Ernie Manzo will speak at the San Leandro Historical Society about the role of California and the Bay Area in the Civil War. A longtime re-enactor, Mr. Manzo will portray an engineer building forts such as Alcatraz, Ft. Point, and Angel Island during the Civil War. The meeting is FREE and open to the public. Join us on Thursday, September 8, at 6:00 P.M. at the San Leandro Main Library, 300 Estudillo Avenue.
