A new tradition in the East Bay directly supports athletes and other students who hope to change the course of their future with a Catholic education

The games support Funding Hopes and Dreams, Moreau Catholic High School’s tuition assistance program.  Moreau’s mission includes providing access to a high quality, college preparatory education for all students in the community.  This program enables them to achieve this goal, and it more than doubled to over $1,500,000 per year. Yet demand continues to exceed supply. Fundraisers like this event go a long way toward changing the course of the future of students in our community by providing them with access to a top-quality education.

The games also raise money for the High Hopes Foundation, founded by Knight. High Hopes Foundation helps fund educational assistance for kids from inner-city schools. Together, Funding Hopes and Dreams and High Hopes Foundation insure that kids in our community get the funds they need to support the quality education required to achieve their true potential.

About Frank Knight III

Frank Knight joined Moreau in 2009 as both a basketball coach and history teacher. His influence on this generation of students at Moreau has been significant both academically and athletically. Last year, Moreau won 18 games, the first in the school’s history, and they went to the 2nd round of the NCS playoff. They finished 2nd in the MVAL (Mission Valley Athletic League). They are ranked 25th in the state and 5th in Northern California. It is the first time the team has ranked in the State. Among starring basketball players, their team includes Oscar Frayer (Moreau ‘16), who is ranked 20th in the country by ESPN. Coach Frank Knight played basketball at St. Mary’s College where he did his undergraduate work in communications. He did his graduate work at Holy Names in Oakland, where he majored in Urban Education. He has coached basketball since 1999, the last four of which have been at Moreau, where he has had a huge impact. Of Moreau, he says, “I enjoy the strong sense of team spirit and commitment here at Moreau. There is an interest in broader issues, including one that is important to me - access to education for kids of all income levels. Together, I believe we are making a difference in shaping the next generation of students and young professionals here in the East Bay.”
