When I stared taking pictures, I started it as a hobby. I had never taken any courses or knew anything about being a photographer or being a photojournalist. All I knew was that I liked to take pictures and create memories...forward 15 years later, is not a hobby anymore, but, a way of making a living.
I love history and relics. I'll watch a couple shows on TV about antiques and their history. About a month ago I bought a used metal detector on Craigslist for $50 dollars for my son. But, I ended up using it. And lo and behold, I kind of liked this new exercise hobby. I had no idea that metal detecting was kind of fun. Is not for everybody, but, it's really exciting when you find something, even though it might be junk.
So, now for Christmas, I surely want a better Metal Detector that's going to help better in detecting items. My son wanted an ipad mini for Christmas...but, now he wants a metal detector too.
The only problem that I found in searching to buy a metal detector that there's no stores anywhere around the San Francisco Bay Area. I found about three places that sells them, but, there's no physical store.
But, finally I found a small shop in Milpitas called Treasure Hunters Headquarters, they just opened this year that sell metal detectors. They're site is being remodeled, so, they don't have much stuff on it. But, the store does. They also sell gold prospecting gear, wow. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They actually sell the metal detector that the guys in the show American Digger use.
I just didn't find a new hobby, I found something that will get the whole family off the couches and off the itouches, ipads, laptops, iphones, etc.......and at the same time, they get a great exercise and have fun too.
