Woman Wins $2 Million From Lottery Scatchers Bought at San Lorenzo Luckys

Hayward resident Shirley Mills is set to receive $100,000 annually for the next 20 years.

A Hayward woman won big this weekend after buying what turned out to be a $2 million California Lottery Scratchers ticket during a routine trip to the grocery store.

Shirley Mills picked up a pair of "Set for Life" Scratchers — including the winning ticket — on Saturday afternoon at on Hesperian Boulevard in San Lorenzo.

Now that she's won, Mills is set to receive $100,000 annually for the next 20 years, according to a statement from the California Lottery.

The Lucky Supermarket where she bought the winning ticket will also receive a $10,000 bonus check for selling it.

Mills said excitement and nerves kept her from sleeping the night after her big win, and that she plans to use the extra cash to pay off some bills and help her two children with expenses.

California Lottery spokesman Elias Dominguez said Mills has one grandchild and another on the way.
