Bay City News -- Early election results indicate that Richmond voters are shunning a measure that would impose a penny-per-ounce tax on sugary beverages sold in the city.
The hotly contested Measure N, which requires a simple majority vote to pass, had earned only 32 percent support as of 10 p.m., based on very early returns.
The fight had garnered national attention and attracted the attention of beverage companies that camaigned against it.
