Take A Big Gulp: Soda Tax Failing

Voters in the city of Richmond seem to be rejecting a pioneering measure to put a tax on sugared drinks.

 

Bay City News -- Early election results indicate that Richmond voters are shunning a measure that would impose a penny-per-ounce tax on sugary beverages sold in the city.

The hotly contested Measure N, which requires a simple majority vote to pass, had earned only 32 percent support as of 10 p.m., based on very early returns.
