Supervisor Chan to Host Senior Fraud Prevention Workshop in San Leandro

It will be the second event of an educational series will help alert San Leandro seniors to fraud and scams in the community and assist with protecting assets.

Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan will host the second workshop of an educational series to highlight common forms of financial fraud and scams targeted at seniors and provide tools for residents to avoid becoming crime victims.

It will be held Thursday, May 30 from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the San Leandro Senior Center (13909 East 14th Street).

The first workshop held this past March at the East Oakland Senior Center attracted nearly one hundred local seniors from the surrounding neighborhood area.

Supervisor Chan will be joined by representatives from Alameda County District Attorney’s Elder Protection Unit; Alameda County Social Services Agency’s Adult Protective Services Unit; Legal Assistance for Seniors; and concerned Alameda County community members. This event is cosponsored by the City of San Leandro.
