Free Holiday Events Next Door in Castro Valley

Budget and family-friendly entertainment close to home at the neighboring Castro Valley Library accessible by BART

 

A number of special programs and indoor events are scheduled at the nearby Castro Valley Library in December, just in time for school vacations and inclement weather. These are free and open to the public.  The library is located at 3600 Norbridge Avenue, within easy walking distance of the Castro Valley BART station.

December 18 (Tuesday)

Winter Holiday Theatre December 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Castro Valley Library. The popular animated movie, "Brave" will be screened. Children under age seven must be accompanied by an adult. For more information call 510-667-7900.

December 19 (Wednesday)

Sulphur Creek Holiday Storytime December 19 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mrs. Rice from Sulphur Creek Nature Center in Hayward will visit the Castro Valley Library to read stories and share live animals from the nature center. This event is for youngsters age 2 through 8 and their parent/guardian.

Santa Visit and Photo Opportunity December 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Santa Claus comes to the Castro Valley Library. Bring your child, your camera and find Santa in the library's Chabot/Canyon Room.

Frosty's Magic Hat Puppet Show December 19 from 1 to 2 p.m. a special performance for children age 10 and younger will be presented at the Castro Valley Library . This is a delightful show featuring magic, puppets, ventriloquism, poetry, music and comedy.  Youngsters are encouraged to attend wearing their winter pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed animal. Call 510-667-7900 for more information. The performance will be in the Chabot/Canyon Room of the library.

December 20 (Thursday)

Music Together For Young Children December 20 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at the Castro Valley Library. Young children and their parent/guardian are invited to sing, dance and play at this get-together led by Cristal Garcia of Early Start Music. This is recommended for children under age 5.

December 26 (Wednesday)

Xtreme Science Magic December 26 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Castro Valley Library.  Don O'Brien and his son return to the library for a repeat engagement to share their science magic with all ages. Call 510-667-7908 for more information. No advance registration is needed.
