San Leandro Launches New Summer Program for Teens

The new summer program is for students entering 6th to 10th grade.

The San Leandro Recreation and Human Services Department has announced the start of its Teen Recreation and Interactive Program (T.R.I.P.), a new summer program for students entering 6th to 10th grade.

T.R.I.P. offers students the opportunity to get out into the local community and participate in fun and adventurous experiences.  Participants also will have the opportunity to develop new friendships, build self-esteem, and learn essential social and life skills.

As part of the program, teens will take part in field trips to fun and educational places, including college campuses, outdoor adventures, and local amusement parks, as well as various other exciting group activities.

T.R.I.P. will run for four one-week sessions this summer, according to the following schedule:

  • Week 1: July 14th through July 18th
  • Week 2: July 21st through July 25th
  • Week 3: August 4th through August 8th
  • Week 4: August 11th through August 15th
T.R.I.P. will be based out of the San Leandro Family Aquatic Center, located in Washington Manor Park, 14900 Zelma Street, San Leandro.  The program meets daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Weekly fees are $195 for San Leandro residents and $220 for non-residents.

For more information, please contact Customer Service at (510) 577-3462, or register online at www.sanleandrorec.org. A very limited number of spaces remain, so those interested in participating are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
