Read To Dogs And Learn A Lot

A San Leandro Library program to give youngsters practice at reading aloud.

From the San Leandro Public Library

Calling young dog-lovers! Children entering grades 1 to 5 that could use some practice reading out loud are invited to sign up for our popular “Paws to Read” program, where they’ll get a chance to read books to a particularly patient and nonjudgmental audience – dogs! We’ll be offering this program at the Main Library and our Manor Branch.

To sign up for the Manor Branch program, come to the branch and register at the Information Desk. Participants are asked to choose one appointment time (3:30pm, 4:05pm, or 4:35pm), and they can sign up for one, two, or all three dates (September 13, 20, and 27). You can come in and register today!

To sign up for the Main Library, you can come in to the library or call us at(510)577-3960. We will be offering two sessions, so participants will choose either Session 1 (October 2, 9, and 13) or Session 2 (November 27, December 4 and 11) and an appointment time (3:30pm, 4:05pm, or 4:35pm). Registration for the Main Library starts on September 10.

Participating children should not be fearful of dogs or have allergies to pets. The dogs are certified therapy dogs through TherapyPets.
