A recent headline in the political blog, Daily Kos, gets right to the punch: Is Democratic Rep. Pete Stark Losing It?
That question is prompted mainly by Stark's recent accusation that Eric Swalwell, who is running against him in the coming June primary for Congress, accepted "hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes" from a developer -- a remark that has been widely reported.
Swalwell, an Alameda County Deputy District Attorney and Dublin City Councilman, has demanded a retraction.
So far Stark has been silent, neither offering proof nor an apology.
Stark has also been taken to task for falsely accussing Swalwell of failing to vote in recent elections, as reported by the Contra Costa Times.
Is it time for Stark to put-up or shut-up? And if he can't back up the bribery charge, what should he do?
