Paper Crane Marathon In San Leandro July 31
The goal is for teens to make 1,000 of the origami creations in an afternoon
Teens entering seventh through twelfth grade are invited to come to the, 300 Estudillo Avenue, on July 31 from 1 to 4 p.m. to take part in a Paper Crane Marathon.
The goal is to create 1,000 paper cranes to be displayed in the library. You can read here about the cultural significance of paper cranes in Japan and about the book Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes which popularized the making of 1,000 cranes and Sadako Sasaki about whom the book was written.

Lessons will be given in the ancient art of Origami paper folding and all materials will be supplied. The event is free of charge.
Japanese snacks will be served to participants.
