has come true: Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi hopes to shrug off her involvement in a shoplifting epispode and run for the Alameda County Board of Supervisor's seat vacated by Nadia Lockyer, who .
Reports in the Oakland Tribune and San Francisco Chronicle say Hayashi, 45, does not think her own scandal bars her from seeking elective office when term limits force her out of her Assembly seat. Hayashi pleaded no contest to shoplifting $2,450 worth of clothes from the Neiman Marcus in San Francisco's Union Square.
Hayashi told Tribune political reporter Josh Richman "the world doesn't end when you make a personal mistake."
The Chronicle reported that Hayashi, a Hayward Democrat, has more than $580,000 in campaign funds and seems to have support from campaign donors.
