Marina Park to Benefit Macy's 'Heart Your Park' Program

Between March 7 to March 31, customers who shop at Macy's Bayfair Center in San Leandro may donate $1.00 or more at the register. All of the money donated will benefit Marina Park

Information provided by City of San Leandro—

Mayor Stephen Cassidy and the San Leandro City Council announced this week that Marina Park has been selected as a recipient for Macy's "Heart Your Park" program.

Introduced as part of Macy's "Secret Garden" campaign, this effort aims to raise awareness and dollars for local parks across the country.

From March 7 to March 31, customers who shop at Macy's Bayfair Center in San Leandro may donate $1.00 or more at the register, with no additional purchases required.  One hundred percent of the donations will benefit Marina Park.

To further leverage these funds, Macy's will match the total customer donation across all of its stores, dollar for dollar, up to $250,000 in total.

"Through this wonderful program and donations by Macy's customers during the month of March, the City will continue to renovate and improve Marina Park. This park is a great asset for San Leandrans, and we greatly appreciate Macy's support."

Marina Park is a 30-acre park located along San Leandro's shoreline, offering numerous visitor amenities including walking trails, a par course and outdoor exercise equipment, large and small picnic areas, a large green space, dog park, and beautiful views of San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area.

Donated funds will be used to repair or replace picnic tables, benches, and fitness or playground equipment.

This exciting program has been made possible thanks to a collaborative partnership between the City of San Leandro, Macy's, and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of community parks, recreation and conservation nationwide.  Marina Park will join more than 550 other parks nationwide in receiving donations.
