The Castro Valley Library will host a special workshop November 14 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. to help seniors and their families unravel recent changes in Medicare and how those may impact them.
The 2012 open enrollment for Medicare begins on October 15 and ends December 7. Because of this, Medicare recipients are especially eager this time of year to obtain information about the program's eligibility, costs and benefits as well as its recent changes.
At the workshop various options for supplementing Medicare, such as Medicare Supplement Plans (Medigaps), Medicare Advantage Plans and Medi-Cal will be explained. Information on Medicare's prescription drug benefit will also be provided.
The program is being presented by the Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP) of Legal Assistance for Seniors.
No reservations are required for this free event. The library is located at 3600 Norbridge Avenue and is near the Castro Valley BART station. For more information you can contact the Castro Valley Library at 510-667-7900.
