Hernández will address the selection of stories in Sun, Stone and Shadows: from themes that are real and unreal, faithfully rendered and fantastic, to urban reflections of everyday life. These genres set Mexico apart from other cultures and other literature, according to library officials.

On Saturday, March 24 the library will host a panel discussion with Hernandez, in conjunction with REFORMA, an affiliate of the American Library Association and comprised of librarians dedicated to the development of library services and programs that meet the needs of the Latino community.

Hernandez will lead the panel discussion, which is free, and will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Call 510-577-3971 for more information.
