Free Community Education Forums Slated

Seniors, and their family members, caregivers and friends are invited to attend

 

A series of free community education forums are being held in San Leandro geared to senior citizens, but open to their family, friends, caregivers and the general public as well. All are being offered by the  and all require advance registration. You can reserve space in person at the center or by calling (510) 577-3462.  The center is located 13909 E. 14th St. Early registration is advised.

March 16 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. "Keeping a Healthy Mind and Body" will be presented. Find out about the latest information on weight management, nutrition, exercise, sleeping well, stimulating the mind and memory and managing stress.

March 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. "I've Fallen and I CAN Get UP!" Learn ways to prevent falls and hear about resources to keep you safe in your home. Discuss the possible benefits of a 24 hour emergency response system. Included in this presentation will be a demonstration of safe techniques for getting up after a fall. 

April 9 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. "LGBT Community Issues Forum"  located in San Leandro, presents a forum on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender issues and issues related to LGBT seniors.

April 10 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. "How Will You Respond To A Disaster?" The Alameda County Fire Department will offer a Personal Emergency Preparedness (PEP) Disaster Training. ACFD staff will help individuals and families prepare themselves for a disaster by minimizing potential dangers at home, preparing a disaster kit, developing a communication plan, and managing utilities after an earthquake.
