City Staff to Give Update on Delayed Construction of Affordable Housing Project

The community gathering on June 20 will address local families suffering from the delayed construction of the "Cornerstone" affordable housing and childcare center.

The City of San Leandro's vice mayor and a councilwoman will appear at a community gathering to address local families suffering from the delayed construction of an affordable housing and childcare center.

Vice Mayor Jim Prola and Councilwoman Ursula Reed will present "Affordable Housing and Jobs: Keeping the Promise Alive," on Thursday, June 20 at 7 p.m., which talks about "Cornerstone," a 200-unit of affordable housing and childcare center development. 

Cornerstone is part of the city’s Downtown Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Strategy of putting dense housing close to transportation.

Community members are encouraged to give testimony about the impact of affordable housing on their lives. Robert Stevenson from BRIDGE Housing Corporation will provide a brief presentation of the status of “Cornerstone." 

The event is hosted by Congregations Organizing for Renewal (COR) at St. Leander's Catholic School Auditorium (451 Davis Street).
