City Seeking Applicants for District 4 City Council Vacancy

The City of San Leando will be accepting application in August for appointment to fill the seat City Council District 4 vacancy created by the resignation of Councilmember Joyce R. Starosciak.

The City of San Leandro will be accepting applications from Aug. 2 through Aug. 20 for appointment to fill the City Council District 4 vacancy created by the resignation of Councilmember Joyce R. Starosciak.

This is a temporary appointment and the appointee to the District 4 Council seat will serve through December 31, 2012. This position will be held until the newly elected District 4 Councilmember takes office.

To be eligible, an applicant must be a registered voter of San Leandro, and a resident of San Leandro District 4, at the time of appointment and for at least 30 days immediately preceding appointment.

Depending upon the number of applications received, the City Council may conduct a screening process during the regular City Council meeting on September 4, 2012 to determine which applicants will be interviewed.

Interviews will be held during a special City Council meeting on September 13, 2012, and the new District 4 Councilmember will be appointed following the interviews. Both meetings are open to the public.
