City Council Candidates Debate Tonight At 8 PM

At the Senior Center, 139th and East 14th. Doors open at 6 pm with light refreshments. Assembly debate at 6:30 pm. Local races start at 8 pm.

 

Three city council races will be on the ballot in November.

A debate at the Senior Community Center Wednesday night could help sharpen the issues.

The city council candidates will take the stage at 8 pm. They are:

  • In District 2, incumbent Ursula Reed; school president Morgan Mack-Rose; and Bal Theater owner Dan Dillman. 
  • In District 4 there is no incumbent: Darlene Daevu, Chris Crow,Benny Lee and Justin Hutchison are all vying to replace Joyce Starosciak.
  • In District 6, incumbent Jim Prola faces school board member Hermy Almonte.

The event actually begins at 6 pm with light refreshments followed by a debate between Rob Bonta of Alameda and Abel Guillen of Oakland, both Democrats but opposing candidates for 18th Assembly District

The event is hosted by the Halcyon-Foothill Neighborhood Association; the Best Manor Home Owners Association; and the Business Association of South San Leandro.
