City Accepts One-Year Advance Reservations for Marina Park Picnic Areas

Starting April 1, those interested in booking the large group picnic areas may make reservations.

Information submitted by City of San Leandro—

The City of San Leandro announced today that beginning on April 1st, the Recreation and Human Services Department will begin accepting one-year advance reservations for use of the large group picnic areas at Marina Park.  Reservations for social gatherings or special events are required during the peak season of April 1 - October 31.

Previously, reservations for the peak season were accepted beginning in February.  These changes come in direct response to community residents and organizations who requested additional time to begin planning for significant events occurring at Marina Park, and are in line with the City's ongoing efforts to provide excellent customer service.

Large group picnic areas at Marina Park include Seagull, Otter, Mallard, and Mulford Point. In addition to a reservation, Special Park Use and Special Event permits are required for any events involving gatherings of greater than 350 people, or for events that may significantly impact resources at any San Leandro park.  At the time of reservation, a completed Special Park Use Application, Picnic Area Reservation Application, Driver's License information, and Special Event fees will be required.  Members of the public also may reserve the large picnic areas one-year in advance for smaller events not requiring a Special Park Use or Special Event reservation.  All other picnic areas will continue to be available for reservation for the April through October season beginning the first Monday each February.

In order to make a reservation, please visit www.sanleandrorec.org and click on the "Parks" link.  Reservations also may be made in-person at the Senior Community Center or Marina Community Center.
