Bats Soar Into Library On October 16

Showing at the Castro Valley Library. Children age 6 through 12 will get to learn about these nocturnal creatures in our midst

Bats, those mysterious winged wonders so often written about and widely feared, will come out of hiding October 16 and pay a visit to the Castro Valley Library.

"Bats in Your Belfry", a free presentation by the Sulphur Creek Nature Center in Hayward, will take place in the library's outdoor amphitheater from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The library is located at 3600 Norbridge Avenue, Castro Valley.

The event is geared especially for children ages 6 through 12 and their parents or guardians. Youngsters will get to  learn what bats eat and how they survive in our local environment.

The Sulphur Creek Nature Center is nestled in the nearby Hayward hills at 1801 D Street and is part of the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (H.A.R.D.).  Its naturalists make visits to libraries, schools and other venues to educate the public.

For more information about the presentation call the library at 510-667-7900. You do not need to reserve space to attend, but seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis and is limited.
