Annual Citywide Garage Sale, Recycling Event This Weekend in San Leandro

More than three hundred garage sales will be held throughout town this Saturday.

Mayor Stephen Cassidy and the San Leandro City Council announced that the City's annual Citywide Garage Sale and Recycling Event will be held this Saturday, May 17.  As part of the event, more than three hundred garage sales will be held throughout San Leandro for those hard-to-find items or one-of-a kind deals.

A map and listing of participating households may be downloaded by visiting www.recyclesanleandro.org or by picking up a copy of the San Leandro Times on Thursday, May 15.  The Citywide Garage Sale will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Recycling Event, which runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. that day, will allow community residents to recycle a variety of unwanted household items such as appliances, tires, scrap metal, clean wood, computer equipment, and mattresses at the Alameda County Industries recycling facility.

"The Citywide Garage Sale and Recycling event provides a great opportunity for the entire community to purge to help make San Leandro a cleaner and greener community," stated Mayor Cassidy.

The Garage Sale and Recycling Event are part of the City's Neighborhood Cleanup Program that was introduced in April 2003.  The program encourages residents to spruce up their homes and properties and sell or recycle unwanted household items.
