Police say a 60-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed at about 12:55 am Thursday morning as she walked through the grounds of Roosevelt School.
They are seeking a man who fled with the woman's fanny pack after he pushed her to the ground and "inappropriately touched her."
For that reason police are classifying the incident as a sexual assault.
The victim suffered some bruises. The fanny pack contained miscellaneous personal items.
Police say that when they responsed to a call about the incident at 1:20 am, the victim told them that she had been walking through the school grounds when the male suspect approached her and sought to start a conversation.
According to police, the woman said that when she told the man that she didn't want to talk, he pushed her down and touched her inappropriately.
When the woman defended herself the suspect ripped off her fanny pack and fled southboth, off the school grounds, police said.
The suspect is described as a black man, about 25 years old, standing 5’5” tall, weighing about 150 lbs., and wearing dark clothing.
