Around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 14, a suspect approached one of the bank tellers and handed her a demand note, according to Lt. Jeff Tudor, public information officer for the  

The teller feared for her life, according to the police report, and handed over the money. The suspect took it and ran out of the bank.

The suspect had not been apprehended by Tuesday afternoon. 

Drunk Driver Crashes Downtown: Shortly before 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12, a bicycle officer patrolling the downtown area saw a vehicle driving erratically, according to Tudor. Pedestrians were forced to jump out of the car's way, Tudor said, and the driver ran several red lights.

A patrol car caught up with the vehicle at Hays Street and tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the suspect sped up, leading officers on a chase. Officers soon called off the pursuit out of safety precautions, because the suspect was driving at high speed into oncoming lanes of traffic, Tudor said.  

Shortly afterwards, the suspect rear ended another vehicle near Dolores Avenue and 14th Street. Officers determined the man was drunk, Tudor said. He was arrested for evading a police officer, resisting arrest, and drunk driving. No one was seriously injured. 

Robbing Cash and Drinks: On Sunday, Feb. 13, around 10:30 p.m., a man walked into on East 14th Street. He grabbed a bottle of Coca-cola from the cooler and asked the cashier about the price. He then went back to the cooler, grabbed a Red Bull, and approached counter.

He reached into his right front pants pocket and pulled out a black handgun with some difficulty. He pointed it at the cashier and said, "Give me all the money!" in Spanish. He told the cashier to put the money in a plastic bag.

The cashier complied, handing over approximately $60 in a plastic bag. The suspect left with his two drinks and the money. 

In a separate incident, the on MacArthur Boulevard was robbed later that night, just before 1 a.m. on February 14. A suspect wearing a black ski mask walked into the Quick Stop and ordered the cashier to open the register. The suspect was armed with a large silver handgun. 

After the cashier opened the register, the suspect told him to kneel on the ground out of sight. The suspect then grabbed the cash drawer out of the register.

He also took two bottles of E&J Brandy. The suspect fled with the liquor and approximately $40 in cash.
