Two Residents Injured Fighting Off Fire in Bedroom

By Bay City News

Two people were burned Sunday night while attempting to extinguish a one-alarm house fire in San Leandro, Alameda County fire officials said
today.

Alameda County Firefighters called to 15231 Hardin St. in San Leandro at 11:36 p.m. Sunday found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front and left side of the one-story, single family home, fire department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.

The fire was contained in less than 10 minutes and contained to one bedroom, Knowles said.

Two of the residents of the home, a 39-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy, sustained second-degree burns while attempting to extinguish the fire and were taken to local hospitals in stable condition, Knowles said.

There were no other injuries reported.

Five people were displaced by the fire, which caused extensive smoke damage to the house.

The fire's cause remains under investigation.
