Suspicious Car Report Leads To Arrests

Two males, a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old, were arrested for alleged attempted residential burglary after San Leandro Police were called by a neighbor.

The San Leandro Police Department have filed several press releases recently about how citizen tips have led to arrests. Today they put out another in this series.

According to SLPD, about 7:25 pm last night a neighbor reported a suspicious car at Sayre and Argonne Streets in the Washington Manor.

A patrol officer located a car at Belding Street and Farnsworth Avenue. The seventeen year old male driver and a nineteen year old male passenger were detained near the car without incident.

Officers checked several houses in the area and found a pair of latex gloves discarded in the driveway of a residence in the 1300 block of Breckenridge Avenue.

Officers checked the residence and found evidence of an attempted residential burglary, which was confirmed by the resident.

Additional evidence was also located on one of the suspects, police say.

Based on this evidence, officers arrested both suspects for attempted residential burglary and drug related charges.

The seventeen year old, an Oakland resident, was taken to juvenile hall.  The nineteen year old, Victor Aguilar of Oakland, was booked into the San Leandro Jail.

"It is always better to call and let the police do their job, rather than rationalize suspicious behavior and not call,” Detective Sergeant Ted Henderson said in the press release.
