In the movies the criminal always returns to the scene of the crime. On Monday in San Leandro, life may have imitated art.
According to police, at about 7 pm Monday they received a call that a car had been stolen in the vicinity of 13700 Doolittle Drive.
Officers investigated but could not find the stolen vehicle.
At about 8:30 pm the victim called back and reported that the missing vehicle had been returned and that a suspect was st scene.
Officers responded and found suspect Albert Rojas, a 25-year-old transient, sitting in another vehicle that he was having trouble starting.
After a brief struggle Rojas was arrested on suspicion of stealing the original vehicle, police said.
It turned out that the second vehicle Rojas was trying to start had also been reported stolen in San Leandro on Sunday.
