SLPD Shares List of Recent Proactive Arrests

Incidents include the recovery of four stolen vehicles and six loaded illegal firearms.

San Leandro Police Department released a list of recent proactive arrests made by officers in the past few weeks.

“We have a laser-like focus towards crime reduction here at the San Leandro Police Department and these incidents are examples of that," said Captain Ed Tracey. "We can continue to appreciate the tremendous support from our community towards public safety."

The incidents include the recovery of four stolen vehicles and six loaded illegal firearms.

May 22: At 5 p.m., officers located subjects painting graffiti in the 2200 block of Burroughs Avenue. They discovered there was a vehicle associated to the subjects and a concealed loaded firearm was found in the vehicle. The subjects were arrested for vandalism and one of them for possessing the illegal firearm.

May 26: At 1:10 a.m., a proactive traffic enforcement stop was made in the 2200 block of E. 14th Street. One of the occupants in the vehicle was arrested for possessing an illegal loaded firearm that was discovered concealed in the vehicle.

May 30: At 1:18 a.m., a proactive traffic enforcement stop was made on Joaquin Avenue near Bancroft Avenue. One of the occupants in the vehicle was arrested for possessing two illegal loaded firearms concealed in the vehicle.

June 1: At 6 a.m., a citizen reported a suspicious vehicle in area of Army Street and Pierce Avenue. Officers arrived and determined the vehicle was stolen in Oakland on May 19. The driver was arrested for the incident.

June 2: At 5:54 a.m., a citizen reported a possible intoxicated subject was in the 300 block of E. 14th Street. Officers responded and recovered a stolen vehicle and two subjects were arrested for having illegal drugs and being associated to the vehicle.

June 2: At 12:44 p.m., an officer made proactive traffic enforcement stop on Marina Boulevard, near Teagarden Street. The officer discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Alameda County Sherriff’s Office on May 30. The driver was arrested for possessing the stolen vehicle.

June 3: At 7:57 p.m., officers assigned to the crime suppression unit made a traffic enforcement stop in the 300 block of Bancroft Avenue for a traffic violation. They located a concealed loaded firearm in the vehicle and the driver was arrested.

June 3: At 8:11 p.m., an officer was patrolling at Bayfair Mall and he ran a records check on a vehicle and he determined the vehicle had been stolen in Sacramento. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested for possessing the vehicle.

June 4: At 3:48 p.m., our bicycle enforcement officer was investigating an illegally parked vehicle in the 100 block of West Juana Avenue. The vehicle was searched and an illegal loaded firearm was recovered in the vehicle and the occupant was arrested for the violation.

June 5: at 4:40 a.m., an officer stopped two subjects on Hubbard Avenue, near juniper Street. The officer determined the subjects had burglary tools and stolen property that was stolen from vehicles in the area. The subjects were arrested for burglary and possessing the burglary tools.
