Slow Down: Storm Causes Flooding

California Highway Patrol urges extra caution today. Forecast calls for more rain, hail possible.

Bay City News Service -- An early October storm hit the Bay Area Tuesday night, making roads hard to handle, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said overnight rain led to flooding in Oakland, San Jose, Marin, San Francisco and parts of state Highway 17 near Santa Cruz.

Caggiano said Caltrans has been busy clearing drains to relieve flooding and the CHP has been handling many collisions overnight.

The CHP advises drivers to reduce speeds on slick roads and leave more space between cars, especially since a large body of water may suddenly appear on roads.
