Shotgun Robber Finds Till Empty, Flees

No one hurt in armed robbery attempt at the Korean BBQ Restaurant on Davis Street Tuesday night.

No one was hurt Tuesday night when a man shoved a shotgun in the face of a restaurant employee, demanding money, only to flee when he saw that the cash register was empty.

According to a police department press release, the incident began about 9:44 pm Tuesday when a man armed with a shotgun and wearing a mask on his face entered the at 1292 Davis Street in San Leandro.

The suspect pointed a shotgun at one of the employees and demanded money from the cash register. The employee opened the register. When the suspect saw that the till was empty, he fled the store on foot.

Police canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

A press release described the suspect as a black man in his mid 20s, under 6-feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. He was dressed in dark clothing in addition to wearing the mask.

Police have asked local business to review surveillance video to see if they captured the suspect or a suspect vehicle entering or leaving the area.

"We are also encouraging area residents to come forward with any information to assist us in apprehending this armed suspect," said police department spokesman Lt. Jeff Tudor.
